Brig. general Olurin: How GOV. Daniel Forced Me into Governorship Race:Source Thisday newspaper

The man recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as duly-nominated gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Brigadier-General Tunji Olurin (rtd), Monday gave a vivid account of how the state Governor Gbenga Daniel dragged him into the governorship race.
He also denied insinuations that he was not a member of the party, and accused Daniel of playing games with his candidature.
Addressing journalists in Lagos yesterday, Olurin said Daniel actually invited him to join the race for the governorship, but was surprised the governor changed his mind about him at the last minute.
"He (Daniel) invited me to run for the office of governorship of Ogun State. He called me in June 2007 and since then we have been on the issue. However, one way or the other, I pulled back because of his actions.
"By August last year, the elders of my community and traditional rulers took me to him and told him they want me to be the governor of Ogun State and he accepted. For him to now turn back and say that it is Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that brought me is very wrong.
“He is the one responsible for my joining the race to run as governor. I am saying this and challenging him to come out and say it is not true," Olurin, the former administrator of Ekiti State said.
