The party, however, met a brick wall in Edo Central district, where the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih hails from. The ACN lost the Senate and the two House of Representative seats in this area to the PDP.
At the time of this report, the results indicated that the ACN senatorial candidate for Edo North, Deacon Domingo Obende, defeated the PDP candidate and incumbent senator, Senator Yisa Braimoh with 111,535 as against 65,264 polled by Braimoh.
In Edo Central, Senator Odion Ugbesia of the PDP, defeated Herbettar Okonofua by polling 61,983 as against 49,385 polled by the ACN. The result of Edo South senatorial race between Senator Ehigie Uzamere of the ACN and Senator Daisy Danjuma of the PDP was yet to be declared officially. But it was learnt that Uzamere was leading in results from the seven Local Government Councils so far collated.
However, there was tension in Ovia South West yesterday evening, when an INEC adhoc staff attempted to manipulate the results from Ugbogbi in favour of the PDP. However, the presence of soldiers in the area saved the day as they quizzed the suspect who later confessed to be working for the PDP
