THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has won five of the six seats for the National Assembly while the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) won the remaining one.
Announcing the results on Sunday evening on behalf of the Returning Officers of the six constituencies, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr. Habu Zarma, said the elections were peaceful, transparent and successful, adding that the results had proved “doubting Thomases wrong.”
Two other federal constituencies and the three senatorial districts in the state were put off to Tuesday, April 26 when the governorship and state legislature’s elections would be held simultaneously.
Zarma said: “The results of the elections as declared by the various returning officers are as follows: Barkin Ladi/Riyom fedaral constituency was won by Simon Mwadkon of PDP; Bokkos/Mangu federal constituency was won by Aminu Jonathan Punwet of PDP; Jos South/Jos East federal constituency was won by Bitrus Kaze of PDP.
“Wase federal constituency was won by Idris Ahmed of ACN; Langtang North/Langtang South federal constituency was won by Beni Lar of the PDP; Shendam/Mikang/Quaanpan federal constituency was won by Innocent Zettett of PDP,” he said.
He thanked the people of the state, security agencies, INEC officials for their patience and understanding, which Zarma noted led to the success of the exercise.
