Labour Party wins in Ondo



Agagu, Olajumoke, Ogunniya fail to secure ticket

AKURE - THE Labour Party, LP, in Ondo State, has cleared almost all the Senatorial seats and seven out of the Nine House of Representatives seat in the rescheduled polls held on Saturday.

Results of the Southern Senatorial district and that of the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency were still been collated as at the time of  this report. The LP lost the  Okitipupa/ Irele Federal Constituency to the PDP.

Immediate past Governor Olusegun Agagu, Senator Bode Olajumoke and Senator Gbenga Ogunniya failed to win the senatorial seat in the Southern, Northern and Central districts respectively.

Although the results of Ondo North and central had been announced, that of the South where Dr Agagu hails from was still been collated but his LP counterpart Hon Boluwaji Kunlere was leading comfortably in the five of the six constituencies in the Senatorial area at the time of this report.

The break down of the results showed that in the Ondo Central Senatorial district the LP candidate, Dr Patrick Akinyelure polled 113,292 while his close rival the sitting Senator Gbenga Ogunniya 41,783, ACN  Michael Akintade polled 10,999, ANPP 2109, APGA 410, ARP 1,105, CPC 922, NTP 484.

In the Northern Senatorial district, LP candidate Prof Ajayi Boroffice polled 84,290 votes to defeat the incumbent Senator Bode Olajumoke who scored 51,112 while ACN candidate Dr Olu Agunloye polled 36,607 and ANPP and CPC polled 1,324 and 1,249 respectively.

The election into the Southern Senatorial district was fiercely contested by the immediate past Governor Olusegun Agagu and Hon Boluwaji Kunlere.
In the House of Representatives all the incumbent PDP members lost their seats.

The ruling LP won eight of the nine seats in the House of Representatives while the PDP candidate Albert Akitoye won that of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.

Akitoye polled 31,152 to defeat his LP rival Dele Olatunji 26,262 while candidates of ACN 3,365, ANPP 412, CPC 551.
In Ile Oluji/Okeigbo federal constituency, LP candidate Johnson Adeoba polled 30, 063 votes to defeat PDP candidate Dr Seun Fasawe who scored 18,641 and incumbent member Emmanuel Adedeji of the ACN polled 9, 409 votes.

Results of Ondo East/West federal Constituency, LP candidate Joseph Akilaja polled 36,742 to defeat PDP incumbent member Tayo Fawehinmi who polled 14, 379 and ACN Agboola Kelly 2,052.

In Owo/Ose constituency LP Eniolorunda Omosule 25,473, Alaba Lad Ojomo18,232 and ACN Femi Adekanmbi 15,766 while candidates of the ANPP polled  475 and CPC 401.
