ACN sweeps NASS polls in Osun: source, Nigeria vanguard


As Omisore, Oyinlola, Adeleke lose elections

OSOGBO - Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Osun State swept last Saturday’s National Assembly polls, winning the three Senatorial seats and eight of the nine House of Representatives seats conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Election into the remaining seat for Ife Federal Constituency was postponed by INEC till April 26, 2011, to accommodate the omitted Accord Party candidate.
The Peoples’ Democratic Party’s candidates that lost the election include, two time Senators, Iyiola Omisore, Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation and Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, Chairman Senate Committee on INEC and the former Governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Meanwhile, Prince Oyinlola has accepted his defeat by the ACN candidate, describing the defeat as a call for greater dedication to the ideals of selfless service to the country.

According to the results announced by INEC Returning Officers, for Osun East Senatorial District, ACN candidate, Babajide Omoworare polled 119.852 votes against Omisore 's 51,315, Osun West. Hon. Mudasiru Hussain  of ACN polled 121,971 to defeat Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke who polled 77,090.
Also, Professor Olusola Adeyeye polled,129,527 to defeat former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola who polled 49,001 while Senator Felix Ogunwale of Accord party polled 7,789 to come third.

In Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal constituency, Yussuf Sulaimon, scored 72,203 to defeat Ojo Moses Adetoyese of PDP, who polled 19,216. In Odo Otin Federal Constituency, Adeyinka Ajayi, got 36,894 to defeat Rev. Tunde Kajogbola of PDP 19,720.

Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, ACN's Julius Olufemi Fakeye polled 18,682 as against 7,596 votes polled by Akinloye Michael Balogun of PDP while in Ayedire/ Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran of ACN polled 37,199 to defeat Adesiyan Jelili of PDP with16,616.
For Ede North/ Ede South/Egbedore Federal Constituency, ACN's Tajudeen Adetunji Ajagbe, got 46,989 votes to defeat his closest rival, Falade Ajibade Michael of PDP who scored 28,181 votes while in Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency, Gafaru Amere of ACN scored 38,026 votes to defeat Alhaji Liadi Tella of PDP who polled 22,008 votes.

In Atakumosa East/Atakumosa West Federal Constituency, ACN's Famurewa Israel Ajibola scored 52,148 votes as against Hon. Joshua Ogunleye PDP who polled 5,546 votes and Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency where Nathaniel Agunbiade of ACN polled 22,142 to defeat the incumbent Hon. Wole Oke of PDP who is also the Chairman House Committee on Defence, 18,005 votes.
