Nigeria Political parties in supremacy battle

 

Anambra: All eyes on Akunyili, Emordi, Ngige, Uba

In Anambra State, the outcome of Saturday’s election as it affects Akunyili, Ngige, Senator Joy Emordi and a former governor of the state, Chief Andy Uba, will attract the attention of many people.

The candidates for Anambra North include Emordi (APGA); a former minister, John Emeka (PDP) and Jessie Balonwu (ACN).

In Anambra Central, Akunyili (APGA) is contesting against Senator Annie Okwonkwo (Accord Party) and Chris Ngige (ACN).

For Anambra South, the candidates are Dr. Andy Uba (PDP), Chuma Nzeribe (APGA) and Ikechwukwu Obiorah (AP) and Chris Atuegwu (ACN).

Benue: Mark versus Onoja

In Benue South, Senate President David Mark and a former military governor of Benue State, Lawrence Onoja, an ACN candidate, are contesting the senatorial election. Also in the race in Benue North East is a former governor of the state, Senator George Akume of the ACN.

Kaduna: Makarfi, other PDP candidates face CPC onslaught

A former governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, who is the current senator representing Kaduna North, will slug it out with the CPC candidate, Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed, a former member of the House of Representatives. The other candidates contesting against the former governor include Aminu Abdul Fatai of the ANPP and Salihu Lukman of the ACN.

In Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, the former executive secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Hamisu Yusuf Abubakar, popularly called ‘Mairago,’ will be slugging it out with CPC’s Mohammed Saleh and ACN’s Hajia Halima Aminu Turaki.

The Kaduna South Senatorial election is mainly between a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Esther Nenadi-Usman and the incumbent senator representing the district, Senator Caleb Zagi, who is contesting under the umbrella of the ACN.

84 eye Senate, House of Rep in Bauchi

During Saturday’s elections, a total of 84 candidates, cutting across some of the major political parties, will be slugging it out in a bid to represent their people at the lower and upper legislative houses.

For the Senate, it is going to be a contest among Mr. Isah Hamma Misau of the ACN, Mr. Muhammed Muhammed of the ANPP, Mr. Bappa Aliu Misau of the CPC and Mr. Ahmed Abdul Ninji of the PDP for Bauchi Central.

Bauchi South has Mr. Ibrahim Lame (ACN), Mr. Hamma Ibrahim (ANPP), Mr. Muhammed Jumba (CPC), Mr. Yakubu Usman (Labour Party), Mr. Adamu Ibrahim Gumba (PDP) and Mr. Yakubu Abubakar of National Conscience Party.

In the case of Bauchi North, the ACN will be fielding Mr. Farouk Mustapha, while the ANPP will be fielding Mr. Abdul Mukthar. The PDP has Mr. Babayo Gamawa as its candidate, while the CPC and APGA will be fielding Dr. Shehu Mahdi and Mr. Mamu Gwani respectively.

Kwara: Bukola Saraki seeks to replace sister

In Kwara Central Senatorial District, the state governor, Bukola Saraki, who has fallen out with his father, Dr. Olusola Saraki, is seeking to replace his sister, Gbemisola, who is now the ACPN governorship candidate.

Borno: Sherrif’s second coming?

The Borno State governor, Ali Modu Sherrif, who left the Senate in 2003 to contest the governorship election under the umbrella of the ANPP, is contesting the senatorial poll.

Nasarawa

Adamu Abdullahi became governor of Nasarawa State in 1999 under the umbrella of the PDP and spent eight years in office. He is contesting Saturday’s senatorial poll.

Zamfara

In Zamfara State, a former governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Yerima, is seeking second term in the Senate. But he will be contending with CPC and the PDP candidates.

Enugu: Nnamani and Silva’s men in tough contest

In Enugu East, four parties are contesting the senatorial seat. They are the PDC (former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani); Gilbert Nnaji (PDP); Prof. Benjamin Nwoye (ACN) and Ugwu Ogbu (APGA).

For Enugu West, the candidates include Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu (PDP); Uzor Onyeama (PDP); and Ndubusi Elechi-Onyia (APGA). In Enugu North, the Senate spokesman, Ayogu Eze (PDP), Mike Ajogu (LP) and Josiah Okolagu (ACN) are contesting.

Imo: Chikwe, Udenwa in senatorial race

In Imo West, a former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, is contesting against Hope Uzodima of the PDP, while In Imo East, a former Minister of Aviation, Kema Chikwe (PDP) and Chris Anyanwu (APGA) are slugging it out.

Jigawa and Kebbi

A former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki is the ACN candidate in Jigawa Central. A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Adamu Aliero, is the CPC candidate in one of the three senatorial districts in Kebbi State and he is contesting against Abubakar Bagudu (PDP).
